What is Kontakt?
Native Instruments Kontakt 7 is a cutting-edge, industry-standard instrument sampler and sound emulator. Built with a remarkable sound engine and advanced modular architecture, it's incredibly popular due to its extensive instrument emulation capabilities and its status as the most widely used host platform. Kontakt instruments include over 600 licensed instruments from various manufacturers, allowing you to emulate drums, symphony orchestras, and much more. It also features Creator Tools, a standalone application that enhances and streamlines the instrument creation process, including tools like a multi-instance debugger, instrument editor, and GUI designer.

When it comes to music production, staying current is the name of the game, and nothing gets in the way quite like the struggle to get the perfect sound. If you've owned any version of KOMPLETE in the past few years, you're probably familiar with the double-edged sword of having so many sounds to choose from. To make it easier, we've created a whole new browser for KONTAKT 7 (the old one is still there in case you installed an add-on).
Aside from looking much better – especially on Hi-DPI screens – the new browser displays each of your sounds individually, instead of just the instrument, and makes it easier to search with filtering, searching, and even sound previews (if you're familiar with the browser in KOMPLETE KONTROL, this feature works similarly). Want to see all your violin sounds in one place, regardless of which product they're from or which developer created them? Now you can.
In addition, we've made it possible to import all your libraries and edit tags. Libraries from indie developers, freebies, and custom instruments can now be displayed alongside libraries from Spitfire Audio, Heavyocity, Output, and more.
New factory library
The KONTAKT Factory library has long held a special place in the creative toolkit of many musicians. For those just starting out with KONTAKT, it's the perfect introduction, containing essential material for all genres from classical to rock and hip-hop. Even if you own the latest and best library, there will always be that part of the cue or that track that requires a specific instrument, and often you'll find it in the library.
The original was a difficult task to replicate, so we've done our best. In addition to the returning ANALOG DREAMS, ETHEREAL EARTH, HYBRID KEYS, and RETRO MACHINES, KONTAKT 7 also features 7 brand-new collections, encompassing nearly 900 instruments, presented via a stunning Hi-DPI interface with intuitive controls (pre-mapped for natural use with KOMPLETE KONTROL or MASCHINE).
Orchestra
Completely revamped in KONTAKT 7 by Orchestral Tools, the comprehensive and complete collection of sample string, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments in the Orchestral Collection is drawn from OT's flagship product line, The Berlin Series. Recorded by the finest musicians at the same Teldex Scoring Stage in Berlin, these libraries are used by composers, film, media, and AAA games.

The acoustic collection features 60 meticulously recorded instruments, including flutes, zithers, pipes, violins, and brand-new wind instruments, as well as gongs and percussion sounds, all with editable MIDI formats. It allows you to add layers of individuality to your tracks. Across borders and continents, experience distinctive and authentic sounds from numerous locations such as Ireland, Turkey, Japan, Cuba, Armenia, and more.
band
Whether it's rock, funk, jazz, or soul, you can find the authentic sound you're looking for in this collection of acoustic and electric band sounds – including newly added guitars, basses, organs, horns, and electric pianos. The collection also features various drum kits, complete with preset grooves that can be exported via drag-and-drop MIDI. Choose from different articulation and playing styles, and add extra character with a variety of controls, including vibrato and sustain.
rhythm
Discover fluidity and quickly create rhythmic patterns – the Beats collection has been completely revamped for Factory Library 2. Choose from 288 pre-built grooves across 90 sets, or freely play your own rhythms with a keyboard or pad. You can also use drag-and-drop MIDI to export groove patterns to your DAW for editing, and further customize your drum sounds with a variety of studio-grade effects like chorus, flanger, reverb, and delay.
Choir
The choral collection offers vocal harmonies covering the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass ranges. New in KONTAKT 7 is a set of high-quality patches featuring the vowels Aah, Eh, I, Ooh, Uh, and Mmm, as well as Sustain, Marcato, Staccato, and Staccatissimo notes.
Synth
Pads, lead, arp, and bass—all you need, plus a newly added Soundscapes category for enhanced cinematic surfaces.
