What is SAP2000?
CSI SAP2000 This is a 3D structural analysis and design software widely used by civil and structural engineers. Its primary function is to create models of various structures such as buildings, roofs, bridges, or industrial structures. Forces acting on the structure can then be defined, such as the structure's own weight, service load, wind load, or seismic force. The program then calculates and checks whether the designed structure is strong and durable enough to safely withstand these forces.
A key feature of SAP2000 is its ability to analyze structural behavior in considerable detail using the Finite Element Method (FILO). This method provides insights into various structural parameters such as forces in beams and columns, structural deflection, and material stresses. Furthermore, it offers tools for inspecting and designing reinforced concrete and steel structures according to numerous international standards, enabling engineers to assess whether structural elements are appropriately sized and sufficiently safe.
The program features a user interface that displays a three-dimensional structural model. We can rotate the model from different angles and easily define structural details, such as drawing beams, columns, or specifying support points. Once the program completes the analysis, the results are displayed as numerical data, tables, and graphics, such as internal force diagrams or color-coded deflection values. This allows us to clearly visualize the structural behavior and use this information for design or construction drawings.

What's New in SAP2000 26
In terms of structural design and analysis.
- On the concrete side, the design has been updated to ACI 318-14 and ACI 318-19 standards, particularly regarding torsion distribution conditions.
- Added design features for Concrete Shell and Concrete Frame to meet ACI 350-20 standards for environmental engineering structures.
- New load patterns have been added: Hydrostatic (water pressure) and Horizontal Earth Pressure (soil pressure), which can now be used for load combinations.
- The equation for calculating the Cb factor in steel structure design according to AISC 360-22 has been updated to better accommodate the effects of tensile forces and meet specifications.
- The Wave Length calculation based on the 5th Order Stokes Theorem has been improved to accommodate a wider range of wave parameters and provide more efficient results.
In terms of display and modeling.
- You can now view the Force/Moment Diagram on the screen with colored contours, and hover your mouse over different points on the frame to instantly see the moment value for that specific point.
- This version of the vibration damping software adds a new Link Property called Sumitomo Viscoelastic Damper, allowing for more realistic simulation of the device's behavior.
In terms of usability and API system.
- If we set up User Defined Stress-Strain Curves, the program will not automatically scale or adjust the graph when we later modify Young's Modulus or Material Strength values. This allows those performing nonlinear analysis more freedom to experiment with the values.
- The backend system has also been upgraded to support .NET 8, expanding the API compatibility to provide more stable and wider integration with plugins and external programs.
