Final Draft This is a scriptwriting software designed for film, television series, theater, and other projects requiring industry-standard script formats. The program automatically adjusts margins, character names, dialogue, scene headings, action sequences, and other script elements, reducing the time spent manually formatting during writing. It offers templates for various project styles and features SmartType, which remembers frequently used character names, locations, and words to minimize repetition. The focus is therefore on the storyline rather than the document format. It also supports importing existing files for easy editing or further script development.
For story planning, there's a Beat Board for collecting ideas as cards and freely arranging events. This is then linked to the Story Map and Outline to define the pacing, key scenes, and chapter length goals. The Navigator helps search and filter character information, scenes, locations, or script notes when the document is large. The Outline Editor, Structure Lines, and Custom Beat Views provide an overview of the structure without having to scroll page by page, ideal for tasks requiring scene reordering, experimenting with multiple storylines, or preparing data before sending it to the team for review and further development.
The tools for daily writing also include Writing Stats to view word count, pages, and writing behavior; Typewriter View to keep the currently typing line in a readable position; Midnight Mode for working in low light conditions; and Emoji for on-screen text or notes within the chapter.
