What is Bentley PLAXIS 2D/3D Ultimate?
Bentley PLAXIS 2D/3D Ultimate is a suite of numerical analysis tools for geotechnical engineering applications requiring assessment of settlement, stability, and soil-structure interactions. It allows for the modeling of excavation, embankment, foundation, pile, tunnel, or underground structures, and the calculation of forces, groundwater, and construction sequences all within a single environment. This is ideal for design work where decisions are based on analytical results rather than simple estimations.
The Ultimate suite covers both 2D and 3D analysis, adding capabilities for complex problems such as vibration, time-dependent water flow, consolidation analysis, and simultaneous flow-deformation calculations. The results allow us to visualize displacement, stress, porous water pressure, and safety factors, enabling us to verify model assumptions and compare alternatives before real-world application. When preparing drawings and details for geotechnical engineering models, we can use... Autodesk AutoCAD 2026 Participate in the documentation and design review process.

Key Features
- Analyze soil, rock, and structural deformation and stability using finite element analysis in both 2D and 3D.
- Create models of excavation work, embankments, foundations, piles, tunnels, and soil improvement works in sequence for construction.
- Use multi-level material models to simulate soil and rock behavior more closely to real-world conditions.
- Calculate the effects of groundwater, static flow, and flow boundary conditions.
- Supports simultaneous consolidation and flow-deformation analysis for time-tracking tasks.
- Analyze vibrations, seismic forces, and the effects of dynamic loading at the ultimate level.
- Automatically create and adjust meshes, or apply refinement only to key areas of the model.
- Interface and embedded pile elements are used to study the relative movement between the soil and the foundation or piles.
- Stress, displacement, porous water pressure, temperature, or acceleration can be displayed through graphs and cross-sectional images.
- Supports CAD import and export, as well as integration with geotechnical engineering workflows.

PLAXIS 2D/3D 2025.1 Release Notes
PLAXIS 2D and PLAXIS 3D 2025.1 restructure the calculation input and result databases for better data consistency, resulting in faster graph creation and result verification. When opening projects from previous versions, the system will automatically convert the files to the 2025.1 format. _converted The file name needs to be remeshed and recalculated before further use.
- Improve the display of results from stress points to nodes and indicate unsupported results as "Not Available" instead of displaying a value of zero.
- Increase the speed of creating graphs before and after calculation, and provide a wider range of available result types on the graph.
- Resolve issues related to dynamic analysis, CAD import, safety calculations, and integration with ProjectWise, according to the specifications of each 2D and 3D version.
